- Glutinous rice flour
- Water
- Filling of your choice (such as red bean paste, black sesame paste, or peanut paste)
- Optional: food coloring for colorful tangyuan
Make the dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour with water to form a smooth dough. Adjust the water amount as needed to achieve the right consistency.
If desired, add food coloring to the dough and knead until the color is evenly distributed.
Shape the tangyuan:
Take a small portion of dough and flatten it in your palm.
Place a small amount of filling in the center of the dough.
Gently shape the dough into a ball, making sure the filling is completely covered.
Cook the tangyuan:
Bring a pot of water to boil.
Drop the tangyuan into the boiling water.
Stir the tangyuan gently to prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Once the tangyuan float to the surface, let them cook for another 12 minutes.
